Continued Search
(by Issic)
The sun had set long since they exited the valley searching for anything that would resemble the caravan that had passed through the area days, if not weeks perhaps even a month or two prior. Their torches lit as much of the landscape as it could, but it just wasn't enough to get a good scan of the area. He looked back to O'honat and could see that she was very fatigued. They had been up for close to twenty hours. He could go on and press through if he needed to. He was trained to withstand long endless endurances. But as he looked back, he felt a slight concern for the scout who didn't seem to look like she was used to this sort of work.
He sighed and looked around. "This is hopeless to keep searching this night. It's much too dark to see anything that isn't almost directly in front of us."
She looked up at him and nodded. "Aye, but there isn't much of a camping area here. These places are filled with orcs and ogres."
"I know of a camp that would take us in for the night. Perhaps they'll even be able to tell us about our draks that we're searching for, or the prisoners."
"What camp is this? I know this area fairly well and there aren't any secured encampments around here." She asked him with a hint of wonder to her voice.
He looked at her and laughed. "Define secure. If you're speaking secure as in camps that we have secured then you're right. There are none in these parts. At least not from Diogel to New Haven. But the camp that we are looking for is one of the Lammias's encampment that is out here. I sure hope that you haven't pissed them off, they tend to remember those things for a long long time."
They walked for a few minutes up over a hill and off into the distance they could see a few large standing stones and a few torches lit. Every now and again you could see the shadow of a large snake-shaped figure slither by.
"There it is. We should be there soon, tomorrow we can restart our search."
